The J. Paul Getty Museum has been busy preparing for California Video, a 40-year retrospective that opens in March. Among the works is The Eternal Frame, a notorious piece from Bay Area collectives Ant Farm and T.R. Uthco re-enacting the Zapruder footage of the Kennedy assassination. When the Getty tried to re-create the original 1976 installation, in which the film was played on a television in a Sixties-era living room, curators found that the props were missing. So staffers scoured Ebay and antiques shops to score a vintage console TV and chairs, old photos and all the rest.
