What: W Magazine’s dinner in celebration of the May Modern Beauty Issue.

Where: Perry Street restaurant in the West Village.

When: Thursday, April 18th.

Who: Tilda Swinton – W‘s May cover girl and the evening’s guest of honor—joined host Stefano Tonchi and a slew of guests like Prabal Gurung, Stacy Engman, and Rainer Judd for what felt like an intimate dinner amongst friends. Over cocktails, models Cara Delevingne and Anja Rubik playfully snapped photos with W‘s Edward Enninful, while guests like Ryan McGinley and Casey Legler, the first ever woman signed as a menswear model (a true example of modern beauty), caught up with friends at the bar.

Why: “I never quite understand the way society decides who is beautiful and who is not,” said Swinton, whose own ethereal beauty is iconic in the world of fashion. “But an open face and a capacity for kindness always feel like reliable signifiers to me.”
