On September 6, the Oscar-winning Swedish actress made a rare red carpet appearance with Fassbender in a custom Louis Vuitton gown by Nicolas Ghesquière. The pastel blue number cascaded into a sea of floor-trailing ruffles which appeared to float as she walked. The layers of light-as-air silk created a petal-like effect, finished with an oversized sash bow tied around her waist. Their last official outing took place at the Cannes Film Festival in May, when they walked the red carpet for Hope, a violent thriller starring both actors. The Echo Chamber, however, stars Vikander sans Fassbender, and takes a more melodramatic, slow-burning tone.
