Versace’s Greca Goddess Bag Will Transport You To Another Realm

A handbag for the modern goddess.

Versace’s new Greca Goddess handbags channel the powerfully feminine, yet subtly subversive energy that defines the house’s fall ‘22 collection. Sculptural silhouettes are contrasted by sharp angles, sleek curves, and high-impact hardware — a multi-dimensional accessory that encapsulates the essence of Versace’s heritage. “Greek Goddesses have always been part of the Versace DNA, and the Greca Goddess captures their clash of cultures and emotion,” Chief Creative Officer Donatella Versace explains in a press quote. “These juxtapositions create something new.”

A symbol of the house’s cultural and design legacy, each bag features Versace’s iconic meander-inspired Greca motif in burnished-gold hardware on the bag and chain shoulder straps. “When I touch the strong, cold metal of the Greca it makes me feel my strength and confidence,” Versace noted. As it turns out, cool strength is an apt descriptor for this collection — it’s fitting that the opulent campaign imagery (shot in Rome by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott) showcases the bags in the arms of classical marble statues.

Available in smooth box calf leather, the Greca Goddess colorways build off the theme of power, focusing on steely hues like black, white, teal, and charcoal gray. Styles include a shoulder bag in large and standard sizes (with interchangeable Greca chain or leather straps), as well as a large pouch with a central hand-slip. The collection rounds off with chain wallets, small clutch bags, and card cases, each boasting its own golden Greca design.
