Anderson Cooper Headlines GLAAD Media Awards

The 24th annual GLAAD media awards Saturday night brought out a broad spectrum of supporters to the New York Marriot Marquis. Much of the red carpet looked like a reality television mash-up: Honey Boo Boo’s mother June Shannon Thompson hammed it up, Nigel Barker took a break from critiquing models on The Face and Snooki and JWoww vamped like Vegas girls. Still, antics aside, nothing could detract from the night’s purpose, honoring those who support LGBT rights. Brett Ratner took home the Ally Award and Madonna, dressed as a Boy Scout (in an apparent statement against the organization’s ban on gays), presented Anderson Cooper with the Vito Russo Award for his efforts in promoting equality.
