In order to keep up with the wants of its viewers, MTV is perpetually adapting its annual music and movie awards, which were both a free-for-all to begin with. This year, the MTV Movie Awards, which took place on Sunday night, were the MTV Movie and TV awards, with nominations for “Show of the Year,” “Best Reality Competition,” and “Best Actor in a Show,” which, like the corresponding film category, was genderless for the first time. Other à la mode categories included, “Best Fight Against the System,” “Best American Story,” “Next Generation,” and simply, “Trending.” As for the night’s guests, young celebrities like Millie Bobby Brown and the cast of Stranger Things, plus Zendaya, Amandla Stenberg, Yara Shahidi, Hailee Steinfeld, and even 24-year-old Cara Delevingne with a freshly-shaved head, proved a seat at the kids’ table is where you want to be. However, adults Taraji P. Henson, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Issa Rae were also in attendance. See all the red carpet looks, here.
