Downtime is hard to come by during Fashion Week—especially if you’re Kendall Jenner or Bella Hadid—but during the Fall 2017 shows in Paris, both models squeezed in time to pause, stand in front of a camera, and declare, without hesitation, their support for women’s rights. They were hardly alone: at the urging of W, dozens of fashion’s biggest names—models like Joan Smalls, Hailey Baldwin, Anna Ewers, Carolyn Murphy, Winnie Harlow, and Natalia Vodianova, plus designers like Simone Porte Jacquemus, Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli, and Lanvin’s Bouchra Jarrar—joined Sienna Miller and Travis Scott in making their voices heard, just in time for International Women’s Day. The occasion, after all, has taken on an even weightier significance this year, amidst the Trump administration’s moves to restrict abortion access and defund public healthcare groups like Planned Parenthood. Still, just like when they stood together for immigrants’s rights, at the shoot, all was calm behind the scenes. Go behind the scenes here.
