With Beyonce, Jessica Chastain, Ciara and Tilda Swinton, the CFDA red carpet has become one to rival the top awards shows. But this carpet, outside the Hammerstein Ballroom on 34th Street in Manhattan, feels much more intimate than the Oscars or the Grammys. It’s smaller in size, sure, but it’s also a community of people that have known each other for literally years (see: Calvin Klein and Donna Karan, who received The Founder’s Award in Honor of Eleanor Lambert). That’s not to say it’s totally exclusive; there are newcomers too: Lion Babe, Hari Nef, and Emily Ratajkowski all attended this year. Photographer Driely Vieira takes in these names and more, with an alternative view of the carpet.
