It’s there that music biggest stars are free to show up in their best meat dress, denim gown, or whatever else might strike their—or their stylist’s—fancy. But for every misguided catsuit or naked dress, there are some genuinely great fashion moments that grace the red carpet, as well. In 2013, Selena Gomez appeared at the awards wearing a cutaway Versace gown with lingerie detailing that was equal parts glamorous and sexy; the same year, Katy Perry, who will host this year’s ceremony, managed to balance her traditional kitsch with sartorial prowess in a butterfly-adorned leopard print gown. Also among the best dressed hall of fame? Taylor Swift in nude sequins circa 2009, Solange’s 2014 power suit, and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen at the height of their boho-phase in 2003.
