Free from the reins of Dior, Raf Simons turned his attention towards his eponymous men’s wear label with a spring 2017 show at Pitti Uomo, held at Stazione Leopolda, the city’s oldest train station. Titled “Florence Calling: Raf Simons,” the show was a homecoming of sorts for the designer – he showed his tenth-anniversary show there in 2005. Wearing a splattered button-down from his enduring partnership with Sterling Ruby, Simons kept up his artist collaborations in his new collection with photos by Robert Mapplethorpe, a new partnership developed with the help of the late photographer’s estate. Before the male models played double duty as hangers and picture frames, though, they hung out shirtless with Simons backstage. Go behind the scenes with the boys , here.
