Rick Owens Takes the California Sunshine Underground for Spring 2017

JAKEHATELEY-RICKOWENS-4295.jpg

Rick Owens once again took over the dingy, industrial lower level of the Palais de Tokyo at Paris Fashion Week, but this time around, he brightened things up: For spring 2017, the Californian designer’s immense, flowing shrouds came not only in black and brown, but bright yellows and even shades verging on pink. With linen and ostrich feathers as his canvas, Owens dotted the collection with horsehair and cloths normally reserved for bookbinding. He may be moribund-minded as ever, but the designer’s definitely not afraid to play.
