Baz Dazzled
Celebrating the Barneys holiday collaboration with Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin.
What: A window unveiling and dinner to celebrate “Baz Dazzled,” the filmmaker Baz Luhrmann and his wife, the production designer Catherine Martin’s multi-platform holiday extravaganza at Barneys New York
When: Thursday, November 13th
Where: Guests first gathered on Madison Avenue to witness the windows’ unveiling, which was accompanied by an epic, street-closing production that featured figure skaters, breakdancing elves, stilt-walkers, and a spectacular a cappella group called Pentatonix singing a rendition of Madonna’s “Holiday.” The crowd then hightailed it, in the pouring rain, to the Central Park Zoo, where dinner was held within an enchanted, winter-wonderland-of-a-tent, pitched beside the sea lion pool.
Who: An eclectic bunch that included Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin, Pat Cleveland, Dakota Fanning, Estelle, Wendi Deng, and Aurelie Bidermann.
Why: Short of starring in his next film (reportedly an Elvis Presley biopic), Baz Dazzled offers virtual entree into Luhrmann’s uniquely imaginative world.
