Clare Vivier Loves Her Collaboration with Equipment

The accessories designer reveals the highlights from her new collection of silk and leather bags.

Clare Vivier

Accessories designer Clare Vivier always thinks about her personal style when creating a new piece. “We’re definitely designing for us,” she explained, referring to herself and her three-person design team, which is based in Los Angeles. “It’s our constant question: would you carry it? It’s really cute, but would you actually carry it? And then a lot of the time that gets rid of things.”

And that’s exactly how she began working with L.A.-based, Parisian chic fashion label Equipment on a 5-piece capsule collection, which includes silk and leather clutches in a variety of prints, such as leopard and zebra (which Vivier explains would be “very nice for evening”), Equipment’s signature celestial pattern (“cute and classic”), and a textured crocodile-printed leather, available in both army green and black (“It’s my favorite”). As a personal fan of Equipment’s silk shirts and easy separates, Vivier saw the collaboration as an obvious fit—and one that would add some pieces to her own wardrobe. “I think that there is a casualness to both brands which is very Californian, but also a put-together, chic quality that is very much the perennial French girl,” Vivier explains.
