Are you even in a relationship if you don’t post a birthday tribute for your significant other on social media? Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart would likely hate that question, seeing as the pair have been as quiet as can be about their relationship ever since they were first rumored to be dating in March of 2017. Still, the pair followed that post-Instagram societal convention when Reinhart turned 22 years old today, September 13. Instead of posting any old photo of Reinhart—which Sprouse has a deep inventory of, judging by his Instagram grid—he went in a surprising direction. Sprouse wished his muse and girlfriend a happy birthday on Instagram by sharing a topless photo of her.

“Both the birthday and the gift,” he wrote, referring to Reinhart in the caption of a photo where the actress strategically posed with her arms in front of a mirror. “My little muse, happy birthday my love.”

Sprouse has shared dozens of photos of Reinhart before, ever since his first one, on March 18, 2017. But none of them has been this revealing. And none has confirmed that Reinhart is officially Sprouse’s “love” until now. However, just a few days ago, he did share a photo of the pair seconds away from kissing, with the caption, “It’s pretty, pretty late.”

It’s pretty, pretty late

That was almost as surprising, considering Sprouse has talked about how he would never confirm his relationship status before. Last November, he told People, “Whether you dismiss those rumors or whether you encourage those rumors, it’s giving people who are, in my opinion, a bit entitled to your personal life more power.” He followed that up by saying, “I just never talk about it because it’s not anyone’s right to know…. People can speculate all they want. People speculate about me with every member of the cast practically, but it’s really no one’s right to know. It’s also sexy, these parts of the relationships that are just yours.”

Then, this past April, when Reinhart and Sprouse were asked whether or not they’re dating upon arriving back in Los Angeles from a trip to Paris, the Riverdale actress told TMZ, “It’s obvious.” If it wasn’t then, it certainly is now.
