As much as the general public may like to fancy ourselves well-versed in all things Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, the truth is, we really don't know everything. And that's intentional. If you were to Google something as simple as "Mary-Kate and Ashley interview," you might be surprised to see that results for the twins are pretty scarce, and the ones that are available are almost all boilerplate comments about their popular fashion lines. As younger sister Elizabeth Olsen now tells us, that's exactly how they want it to be.

In a new interview for the cover of Modern Luxury, Elizabeth revealed how the duo helped shape her mindset in approaching the eternally present reporters and media circus. Specifically, her twin sisters told her that she shouldn't overexpose herself in light of her growing fame—and that when she does choose to do an interview, she should always put a filter on what she says.

“I was not caring what I was saying [in interviews] because I’d assumed no one would read it,” Elizabeth said. “That's when we'd have conversations. [Mary-Kate and Ashley] would say, ‘You know, even if you don’t think anyone’s going to read this article, someone might pull the quote later for [something else].’ It’s all part of how you hope someone interprets you, and how they frame who you are and the work you do. They’re very tight-lipped—notoriously so.”

With that advice bestowed on her, the Ingrid Goes West star now says she'll never discuss her personal life or love life in the public eye again. “If it only involves me, then I’ll share it, but if it involves another party ever, then I won’t,” she explained. “I don’t want to tell anyone else’s story.”

What do you know, she's a bona-fide Olsen twin now.
