When in Paris, Felicity Jones Channels Her Inner French It Girl
With an action film (Collide), a family drama (A Monster Calls), a big-budget franchise reboot (Star Wars: Rogue One), and a thriller (the Dan Brown adaptation Inferno) in the works this year, it’s shaping up to be quite the autumn for Felicity Jones. Amid extensive reshoots for Rogue One, the Oscar-nominated star of The Theory of Everything has still found time for a quick festival run — she premiered A Monster Calls at Toronto earlier this year — and a less-quick circuit of red carpet premieres across Europe. She’s favored Gucci and McQueen (with a little Valentino for good measure) at appearances in Italy, Germany, and the U.K., but it was at a photocall in Paris that she seemed to truly find her look, landing on a business-casual Isabel Marant look.
Who: Felicity Jones.
When: Tuesday, October 11.
Where: A photocall for Inferno with Dan Brown and Ron Howard at the Hotel Bristol in Paris, France.
What: A striped blouse by Isabel Marant with black trouser pants and Mansur Gavriel kitten heels.
Why: While Jones is a regular in the front row at Burberry and has been known to appear at the likes of Miu Miu, her red carpet style tends towards conservative; she’s not exactly known for adventurous sartorial choices. Here, though, the actress strikes a balance between her own staid, classic taste and a quintessential Frenchwoman’s sense for everyday business-wear. It’s the kind of look that risks reading as overly mature — silk blouse, black trouser pants, low heels — yet Jones, channeling her inner Charlotte Gainsbourg or Caroline De Maigret with her hands in her pockets and a slight nonchalant slouch, totally owns the look. Plus, we won’t say no to a good kitten heel — Jones is embracing fashion week’s breakout footwear trend. A hint of a smoky eye and glossy lip finish the loop with polish.
