FKA Twigs and Robert Pattinson Make It a Date

The couple that premieres together, stays together.

If there’s any cool celebrity couple to aspire to, it’s these two: Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs. Engaged two years ago — though they have yet to tie the knot — they’ve kept a relatively low profile when it comes to their relationship, but they still hit the red carpet in style. For the previous two Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute galas, they’ve sauntered up the red carpet, hand-in-hand; now, with Pattinson’s new film The Lost City of Z making the premiere rounds, they’re back on the carpet. Pattinson’s co-stars Sienna Miller and Charlie Hunnam were radiant at Thursday night’s London premiere, but there’s no rivaling Twigs for eclectic British It girl style, complemented by Pattinson’s Dior Homme suit. Consider it a belated Valentine’s Day date, albeit with a few more cameras.

Who: Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs.

When: Thursday, February 16.

Where: The premiere of The Lost City of Z with Sienna Miller and Charlie Hunnam in London, England.

What: On FKA Twigs, a Givenchy Spring 2017 black jumpsuit with zipper detailing at the waist and zippered patch pockets; on Robert Pattinson, a navy Dior Homme suit with a black tie and black derby shoes.

Why: With Riccardo Tisci’s departure from Givenchy, it feels fitting to pay our respects to one of his quirkier designs. On the runway, as Twigs styles it on the red carpet, the design showed with little frill or embellishment — neutral makeup, no accessories. The corset bodice feels totally on trend and contemporary, while the saddlebag-looking patch pockets are offbeat and weird. We might have thought the formal jumpsuit was a thing of the past, but on Twigs it feels fresh and relevant again. She’s complemented by Pattinson’s understated navy suiting; they both keep things strategically rugged and unpolished in the beauty department (he, with day-old scruff, and she, with casually pulled back hair), proving that a red carpet date is best done with nonchalance.
