With its new series The Son, starring Pierce Brosnan as its leading man, AMC has thrown its hat into the dark prestige-drama ring once more. (It's been a minute since Mad Men's Don Draper and Breaking Bad's Walter White were the antiheroes on the tips of everyone's tongues.) The show premiered Monday evening with a star-studded red carpet screening with cast members Brosnan, Paola Nuñez, and Jess Weixler (formerly of The Good Wife) all in attendance. Jessica Chastain, perhaps the busiest actress around right now with three features slated for release in each of 2017 and 2018, still managed to stop by the event to support her Hollywood comrades — and, on the red carpet at least, upstaging them in the process. When you have as many events to attend as an actress like Chastain, sometimes, an old standby like a little black dress is just what the occasion calls for.

Who: Jessica Chastain.

When: Monday, April 3.

Where: The premiere of AMC's new series The Son in Hollywood, California.

What: A tea-length black dress with polka dots, a deep-v neckline, and bow detailing by No. 21 from the label's Pre-Fall 2017 collection, topped off with loose waves and simple black pumps.

Why: For her recent red carpet (or black carpet, as the case may be) duties, actress Jessica Chastain has resorted to variations on the little black dress from the likes of Givenchy and Carolina Herrera, with varying degrees of fidelity to the original LBD silhouette. At the premiere of The Son, Chastain again opts for a take on the timeless look, selecting a design from No. 21's sporty Pre-Fall 2017 collection, minus the sporty details. Where the dress originally showed with an oversized cardigan and heels paired with sports socks, Chastain plays up the dress's bombshell factor. And spoiler alert: It works.
