There are weddings and then there are weddings that more closely resemble an awards show, at least in terms of attendance. Guy Oseary and Michelle Alves had the latter as the renowned manager of Madonna and U2 and the Brazilian model managed to draw every celebrity ever to Rio de Janeiro for their nuptials. And, it wasn’t even the first time they’ve gotten married. Oseary and Alves renewed their vows today in a $250,000 production, as The Daily Mail reported. In attendance were, naturally, Madonna, Bono plus the rest of U2, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Dakota Johnson, Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila Alves, Helena Christensen, Karen Elson, and jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer, by the looks of social media posts surrounding the event. Plus, Amy Schumer, Anthony Kiedis and Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alicia Keys, Diddy, Cassie, David Arquette, and Chris Rock were also said to be in town for the vows renewal.
Attendees who made the trek were rewarded with stunning views of the city’s iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, which provided the backdrop for Oseary and Alves as they re-exchanged vows. While there, Christensen, Johnson, Elson, Meyer and Heather Parry managed to take what might be the breakout group shot from the event, in front of Rio de Janeiro’s stunning coastline and alongside Bono. “My 8th grade fantasy come true! ? We’re coming for you GUYO and Michelle,” Parry wrote on Instagram.
Christensen also documented the moment on her Instagram, where she posted a picture of herself with all of U2. “Love these guys,” she wrote in the caption. “Sat in my bedroom with my dad at age 15, listening to their first, second, third record. We pretended I was doing homework, but we were listening. We both felt the same way. This was epic. We listened to every single record since, together. Soundtracks for life. And I’m so grateful I discovered them with my dad.”
Meanwhile, Elson posted a photo of Johnson standing in front of the statue, with the caption, “Devil or angel?”
Madonna, who didn’t miss the opportunity to support her longtime manager, wore her love on her sleeve for the couple, quite literally, in a colorful outfit she later showed off on Instagram. “Pre-wedding Moment!! ♥️?♥️?♥️?♥️. It’s all about LOVE ♥️ @guyoseary Blame it on RIO! ????????????????@fyodorgolan,” she wrote in the caption. That was, of course, the name of her W cover story from 2009 with then boyfriend Jesus Luz/
She later did an outfit change into a sheer embellished dress which she coordinated with her daughters’ print-heavy outfits. “Ready For Wedding Bells??????????????????????????????????????? @guyoseary♥️,” she wrote.
As for the bride and groom, they both wore all white. Albes wore a longsleeve white gown with a white hat while Oseary wore a white suit.
The wedding party wore matching robes with a frond print, which event planner A2 Cerimonial & Eventos posted a photo of on Instagram with the (translated) caption, “Today happens at the feet of Christ the Redeemer the marriage of the Brazilian model Michelle Alves and the businessman Guy Oseary @guyoseary! The party that will be at the home of Luciano Huck and Angelica will feature international super stars such as Madonna, U2, Ashton Kutcher, among others!”
While the couple has yet to share photos from the extravagant event, Oseary penned a loving tribute to his wife on Instagram, posting a photo of Alves on the runway in a white veil, writing, “Today is a special day in my life.. My marriage ????to my Brazilian princess.. A new and exciting chapter begins in just a few hours.. RIO-October 24-2017 .. #Luckyguy #LOVE ❤️?? #Family #ONE .. I found this photo of Michelle from a show she did many years ago.”
