Best known for designing digitally printed, architectural women’s wear, Greek-born fashion designer Mary Katrantzou has recently been stepping outside her comfort zone. Already under her belt are a new collection of camera case-inspired boxy handbags, costumes for the New York City Ballet, and a wedding dress. Next up is a sporty collaboration with Adidas Originals, including athletic wear-inspired dresses, tops, and sneakers. "Mary is a true innovator in her use of color and print as well as her experimentation with embroidery and other applications,” said Dirk Schoenberger, Adidas Sport Style Creative Director. “She brings all of these strengths into the world of sport-inspired style and applies her unique perspective to sneakers and apparel, creating a great fusion of high fashion, street wear and technology." Just don’t wear these threads to the gym—they’re made for runways, not running.
Adidas Originals by Mary Katrantzou is in stores November 15th, 2014.
