Anyone looking askance at the idea of a biopic on Baroness Margaret Thatcher needs to take only one glance at Meryl Streep done up as the U.K.’s controversial former prime minister in this month’s The Iron Lady. Though debates about the script’s accuracy are likely to rival those Thatcher stoked in the House of Commons—for instance, the P.M. was not one for pets, her son told The Daily Telegraph, after hearing that in the film, she walks her own dog—there’s no denying the truth of Streep’s portrayal. The film opens Stateside December 16.
