Le Nozze di Figaro

Opening night at the Metropolitan Opera attracted a glitzy crowd.

Jemima Kirke

What: The opening night of Le Nozze di Figaro, the Metropolitan Opera’s first performance of the season.

When: Monday, September 22.

Where: The show at New York’s Lincoln Center was followed by a tented dinner in Damrosch Park.

Who: Protestors and residual United Nations traffic couldn’t stop the well-heeled crowd—including Vera Wang, Zani Gugelmann, Maggie Grace, and Zac Posen—from making their way to the uptown evening.

Why: Dressed in a velvet floral number that matched her new dusty pink locks, actress Jemima Kirke reveled in the tradition of it all. “I love the experience of going to the opera. It’s one of the only pastimes where the ritual hasn’t changed,” explained Kirke. “It’s just a very glamorous thing to do.”
