If half as many people go to see The Other Boleyn Girl as attended the launch of her new vegan footwear line for Te Casan, Natalie Portman is poised to be a box-office champ. Despite a near-blizzard Tuesday night, throngs headed to the company’s massive flagship in SoHo to nibble vegetarian snacks, sip Champs and view the collection of ultra-ladylike, leather-free sandals, pumps and ballet flats. Each bearing a moniker beginning with the letter P (as in Petra, Pixie, Pia), the shoes are constructed from satin, fabric and assorted pseudo-animal skins. Of course, Portman is the world’s best walking, talking advertisement for her new endeavor. Clad in a little Derek Lam frock, she looked adorable as she milled among the crowd. On her feet? Fire engine-red, faux-patent “Pippa” Mary Janes.
