Earth Day

Labor Day Weekend wasn’t all play, no work for some socially minded vacationers in East Hampton.

On Saturday afternoon, a bold-faced crowd turned out for the second annual Perfect Earth/Azuero Earth Project Family Picnic and Concert, an event which helps raise awareness about the environmental dangers of chemicals used to maintain pristine lawns. Co-host Cindy Sherman opened up her East Hampton home to Kim Cattrall, Martha Stewart, Laurie Anderson and Ross Bleckner, among others. The Quogue Wildlife Reserve provided a wild animal petting zoo for youngsters in attendance, and revellers of all ages took in performances by Suzanne Vega, Teddy Thompson, Rufus Wainwright, The Persuasions, G.E. Smith and Roger Waters.
