Rowan Blanchard, Actress and Activist, Makes Practical Fashion Decisions for a Garden Party

The 15-year-old mixes Rosetta Getty with pristine white sneakers for a dinner in Los Angeles.

If only we could all be as poised as 15-year-old actress and activist Rowan Blanchard. The former Girl Meets World star and current Nylon magazine cover star has been on a national, and even international, stage since she was a preteen. In that time, she’s established herself as a young woman who seamlessly bridges Hollywood and politics, befriending fellow actress-activists like Yara Shahidi and earning the approval of collaborators like Ava Duvernay. In the recent, glowing Nylon profile of Blanchard, she discusses everything from her Disney Channel days to how she became woke to politics (as she wrote on her Instagram earlier Wednesday, ” from other teens on the Internet lol”) to her upcoming role in Duvernay’s A Wrinkle in Time adaptation.

But Blanchard isn’t just a role model when it comes to her activist work — she’s also a total style icon. She walked the runway, and delivered a rousing speech, at Opening Ceremony’s Fall II 2016 pageant; she’s appeared front row everywhere from Christopher Kane to Creatures of the Wind; and, most recently, she appeared at a dinner in Los Angeles hosted by Rosetta Getty and celebrating London designers. (Also in attendance: Gia Coppola, who photographed Blanchard’s Nylon cover.) In the process, she put together the most enviable garden party outfit, combining formalwear with streetwear.
