On Thursday afternoon in Paris, Clare Waight Keller took her final bow as creative director of Chloé. In her six-year tenure, Keller honed the image of the Chloé girl, a free-spirited Bohemian with a penchant for floaty layers paired with harder leather accents, into an easily recognizable — and much coveted — silhouette. Among her devotees are actresses like Kate Bosworth and Sienna Miller, and, apparently, singer Solange Knowles, who sat front-row during Keller's final bow. As mod Chloé girls — models like Julia Nobis, Cong He, Lineisy Montero, and Amber Witcomb, who closed the show — filed down the runway in floral minis, playful mesh dresses with schoolgirl collars, and low-slung trousers, the musician took it all in from the sidelines, clad herself in a look that was something straight out of the waifish Chloé girl playbook. She was joined by French It girls like Loulou Robert and Clémence Poésy, It girl emeritus Isabelle Huppert, and actors Emma Roberts and Gwendoline Christie, each wearing their own take on the Chloé woman. It turns out, Keller's Chloé has many faces.
Who: Solange Knowles.
When: Thursday, March 2.
Where: Front row at the Chloé Fall 2017 show, Clare Waight Keller's final show for the French brand, in Paris, France.
What: A Chloé Pre-Fall 2017 gown of white tulle netting with delicate floral broderie anglaise paired with a short white slip dress underneath, coffee-brown sandals and a matching saddle bag-clutch, and mod drop earrings.
Why: Solange Knowles has always had a thing for matching accents — and matching looks. Here, she pairs a brown leather clutch with matching shoes, moddish accents to an airy, angelic mesh dress. And while this look, which showed at Chloé's Pre-Fall 2017 presentation in Paris just over a month ago, was first featured with a short, turtleneck sweater dress underneath, Knowles makes it a little less precious, a little bolder, by replacing the ivory sweater with a white slip. Even doing things her own way, Knowles still looks like the consummate Chloé girl — just in time for Keller's final bow.
