What: The Walkabout Foundation hosted its inaugural gala to raise funds for research into finding a cure for paralysis and to provide 2,500 wheelchairs for people in need in countries such as Haiti, Colombia, Sudan, Kenya, India and Pakistan.

Who: The charity’s founders Luis and Carolina Gonzalez-Bunsterwere joined by former President Bill Clinton, who gave a speech, and an array of prestigious guests, including model Natalia Vodianova, actor Ed Westwick, writer Stephen Merchant, actress Naomie Harris, singer Nile Rodgers, and Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana of Greece.
Why: Simon de Pury led an auction featuring tempting lots like lunch with artist Damian Hirst. Over all, the evening raised more than £1 million.
