Guardians of the Galaxy Actress Zoe Saldana’s Globetrotting Style Is Unstoppable

A quick change from Loewe to Givenchy reminds us that she’s a star on screen and on the red carpet.

Just more than two months ago, it emerged that Riccardo Tisci was departing Givenchy. His contract was up; the former creative director decided to move on. It was just a month before Paris Fashion Week Fall 2017, and the design team he left in his wake rushed in to fill the void left by Tisci’s exit. So for the collection, which was presented in a lookbook, Tisci’s atelier selected 27 of his best and most Givenchy looks, each reproduced in red. There were ruffles and lace galore, as well as sleek tailored coats and a fur accent or two.

While Tisci’s Givenchy was a much-beloved red carpet choice for many a Kardashian, this interim Givenchy was the look of choice for Zoe Saldana on a recent appearance in support of Guardians of the Galaxy 2. The actress touched down in Tokyo, premiering the film (clad in a sheer Loewe ensemble) alongside co-stars Chris Pratt and David Bautista. But she hadn’t exhausted her globetrotting wardrobe on the first night: For a press conference the next morning, it was her statement red Givenchy that caught our eye.

Who: Zoe Saldana.

When: Tuesday, April 11.

Where: A press conference in support of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in Tokyo, Japan.

What: A red sheer blouse with ruffles and a knee-length pencil skirt by Givenchy from the Fall 2017 collection, paired with matching red sandals.

Why: Zoe Saldana’s technicolored world tour continues. The actress has demonstrated a fondness for bold colors lately — see also her lemon-yellow Emilio Pucci look — and, previously, the head-to-toe monochrome look — see also Cushnie et Ochs, 2015. Here, she revisits a look quite similar in silhouette and impression to the Cushnie ensemble, because hey, why mess with what works?
