What’s a wedding without a bridesmaid? While Zendaya is busy dressing like a bride to promote The Drama, her co-star Alana Haim is doing some low-key method dressing of her own. Haim, after all plays a close friend of Zendaya and Robert Pattinson’s characters in The Drama. No, we’re not insulting her outfits by comparing them to a bridesmaid’s dress. Instead, the actor and musician has been hiding her sly take on method dressing in plain site.
Haim was spotted out in New York today wearing a lime green above-the-knee Versace dress, hailing from Dario Vitale’s first (and only) collection for the Italian brand. Despite its slight sheer effect, the garment maintained a polished sensibility that balanced its flirtier details. Haim styled the spring dress with black mules, structured glasses, and a monogram Louis Vuitton shoulder bag. But it was another accessory that sealed the look in bridesmaid territory.
On her right wrist, Haim wore a light pink flower corsage with green leaf accents that tied into her dress. The wristlet detail, in fact, has been a recurring motif throughout her The Drama press tour, much like Zendaya’s bridal-inspired looks. One of a bridesmaid’s main job during a ceremony is to hold the flowers, after all.
For a recent appearance on the Late Night With Seth Meyers, Haim wore another white flower on her hand. It added contrast to her champagne-hued corset and low-waisted lace skirt.
And when attending The Drama Los Angeles premiere, Haim paired a stark Louis Vuitton dress in black silk with a feminine corsage with two flowers stacked on top of the other.
Where Zendaya is interpreting “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,” with her press fashion, Haim is leaning into the supporting role with a playful flourish of her own. Call it method accessorizing.
