Jennie Levels Up the Ballet Sneaker Trend With Her First Co-Designed Adidas Collab
At the launch of her new collection, the K-pop star discussed her prized fashion possessions and her new EP Fallen Angel.

It’s the year of Jennie. After a summer of headlining festivals across the globe including New York’s Gov Ball, inspiring a celeb-loved lip-sync trend with her hit Tame Impala collab, “Dracula (Remix),” and dropping a six-track EP just today, Jennie’s got another project up her sleeve. On August 28 in Los Angeles, Jennie revealed a fall collection with Adidas Originals co-designed by the Blackpink star herself. Its centerpiece? A slip-on ballet sneaker that puts a Jennie-like remix on the brand’s classic striped kicks.
While the award-winning South Korean artist has fronted many a campaign and retained global ambassador status for brands like Chanel and Adidas—with whom she’s partnered since 2018—the collaboration marks Jennie’s first time lending her creative touch to a fashion line. If you want to dress like Jennie, now’s your chance.
For the launch, Adidas transformed its Melrose store into a futuristic playground, gathering the likes of Love Island’s Melanie Moreno, Olympic champion and viral knitter Tom Daley, and designer Jeremy Scott, who gave Jennie kudos for her dedication to bringing her ballet-inspired vision—a year in the making—to life.
Moon crater art installations, galactic wallpaper, and projections of Jennie moving through a lunar-like landscape served as the backdrop of the dreamy pieces on display. And to top the night off, the star sat down for a quick Q&A at the store’s white draped courtyard– but only after she chatted with W to talk designing ballet sneakers, her most prized fashion possessions, and her new EP Fallen Angel.
What was your vision for this collection?
I wanted to combine the elegance of ballet with dreamlike, limitless freedom of space to balance the softness and strength.
The Superstar SQ Ballet shoe remixes the classic Adidas Superstar. How did you balance these two very different silhouettes?
I kept the original Superstar structure and then added the square toe and the ribbon details to bring in the softness of the ballet-inspired moment.
How would you style them from day to night?
During the day, you can easily style them with any track pants or jeans or denim, and at night something maybe more sheer or fitted.
What’s the most prized possession in your closet?
I’d say all of my vintage jeans.
How are you feeling about the release of your EP Fallen Angel? What can the fans expect?
My heart is beating so fast. I’m very nervous. It’s a very personal album to me. I think it holds a lot of emotions that I felt in my life. I can’t wait for everyone to get a piece of me.
