Lola Tung Has Entered an Era of Dark, Lingerie Dressing

Lola Tung is more grown up than ever. Since The Summer I Turned Pretty aired its final episode last September, the star has evolved from a coming-of-age teen to a versatile screen star—and her recent boudoir-ready ensemble is proof.
The 23-year-old actor was spotted in New York City on Wednesday wearing a layered, lingerie dress from Dilara Findikoğlu. The sheer corset gown comprised a structured purple bodice with a contrasting baby-blue underlay. The asymmetrical base layer had dramatic lace trim that peeked through her sweetheart neckline and created a built-in bra. Styled by Britt McCamey, she accessorized with Betsey Johnson heels that added to the look’s air of dark romance, with pastel pink netting and stark black bows.
Known for her subversive takes on Victorian corsetry, Findikoğlu has become the go-to designer for provocative sartorial statements. Worn by the likes of Hailey Bieber, Rosé, Dua Lipa, and Kim Kardashian, her London-based label is synonymous with gothic romance and punkish opulence. Fittingly, Tung’s debut outing in the brand coincides with an edgier new era. Earlier this year, she starred in Forbidden Fruits, a Diablo Cody horror-comedy about a cultish mall clique. Her ensembles for that press tour veered vampy—comprising daring cutouts and sheer capes. This mature vibe is set to continue, with Tung starring in A24’s period-drama Please—alongside Connor Storrie and Gracie Abrams—in coming months.
To be clear, the actor is not fully bidding adieu to The Summer I Turned Pretty universe—as she still has a spinoff film in the works. Still, she’s been dipping her toes into decidedly darker themes since the series finale. With Dilara Findikoğlu now in her wardrobe rotation, it’s fair to say that Tung has graduated from summer-break sundresses and entered a new lane of It-girl-dom.
