The crowd at the 2016 Guggenheim Young Collectors party Thursday evening was a mixed bag. Women in ball gowns brushed shoulders with artists in Uniqlo linen pants and security guards yelled at selfie-takers bumping up against the Peter Fischli and David Weiss sculptures on display. Event chairs Sarah Arison, Laura de Gunzburg, and Nell Diamond floated around somewhere in-between with fashionable guests like Leandra Medine, Bee Shaffer, and Claire Distenfeld. Topics of conversation did not include Zaha Hadid, whose sudden death was announced that morning. “At this party so far, I’ve talked about how badly I want snacks, where they might be, and how much I love Fischli and Weiss,” said artist Chloe Wise, who was inspired by the duo’s sense of humor. Minutes later, mini whoopee pies were served.
