“I’m so bored,” one model muttered to another. She might have been the only one, amid the crowd at Marc Jacobs’ party Tuesday night to launch his new eyewear collection. Ladyfag, the master of ceremonies, took over a school gym in SoHo and decked it out to resemble the old Zeigfeld Theater where Jacobs presented his Spring 2016 runway collection. Still, it had some of the characteristics of those school dances we all grew up with: Namely, everyone knew each other. Lady sauntered through the crowd, air-kissing Hari Nef and the other club kids; Dutch model Marjan Jonkman held court near the bar in a striped tee and a denim vest with “mj” scrawled across the back. “It’s a meeting of worlds, for sure,” Nef said, adding that she’s been attending Ladyfag parties since she was about 17. Compared to those she grew up with, this one, she said dryly, is “maybe a little bit cleaner, and people maybe have some more of their clothes on, and there are gift bags at the end of it, but other than that, I’d say, it’s filled with beautiful people.” Those beautiful people included actors Kate Mara and Jamie Bell, who moved between the dance floor and the bar throughout the night, Odette Pavlova, Lineisy Montero, Jacopo Olmo, and Soo Joo Park, who had just returned from Coachella when she decided to swing by. (“Cute!” Park exclaimed when she caught sight of the sunglasses being celebrated, which were perched on hands poking through a wall — some mannequin hands, some belonging to real people giving attendees the finger.) Kanye West protégé Kacy Hill (in Marc Jacobs denim, natch) punctuated the night with a short but thunderous set, but it’s not clear whether the highlight of the night for the crowd was the music or the company. What is clear is that, by the end, nobody was bored.
