Inside W’s Intimate Evening With Cate Blanchett at Milan Fashion Week
There was no shortage of extravagance at Milan Fashion Week Spring 2019 these past few days, from Gigi Hadid closing the Moschino show in a wedding gown to Emily Ratajkowski and Shalom Harlow at the Versace circus. The Italians don’t do things halfway, and neither does Cate Blanchett. The Oscar winner made sure to wear Milan designers head-to-toe as the honored guest at W‘s event Saturday evening at Milan’s Cracco Cafe—her shimmery leopard jacket and dress was by Sara Battaglia, the sister of W contributing editor Giovanna Battaglia; her jewelry was Pomellato—to celebrate W‘s latest issue starring Blanchett on the cover and as guest editor. The issue was made by women for women, and features some of the female artists Blanchett most admires, including the likes of Shirin Neshat, Alex Prager, Cass Bird, and of course, Miuccia Prada, with whom she shared an in-depth conversation about feminism, power, and fashion in the magazine. Prada herself turned up at the party, sharing Aperol spritzes and Veuve Clicquot with guests Anna Wintour, Margherita Missoni, Francesco Vezzoli, Alberta Ferretti, Federico Marchetti, Paul Andrew, and of course W Editor in Chief Stefano Tonchi.
