At the Whitney and Guggenheim, New York’s Cool Kids Run Loose Partying After Hours
There’s maybe no New York museum gala as fun and fizzy as the Whitney Art Party. Once a year, the fashion set descends upon the Whitney Museum of American Art for the occasion. Drawing out a young crowd, the fête boasts ample open bars, a late curfew, and just enough starry names to keep the flashbulbs popping all night. This year, the event was sponsored by Birkenstock and co-chaired by Monse designers Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, stylist Michaela Erlanger, Natasha Poly, and Zosia Mamet, and attracted additional notable attendees like Nina Dobrev, Ashley Graham, and Victor Cruz. The following night, the kids were at it again, making the trek uptown for Guggenheim International Gala’s Pre-Party, presented by Dior. While the main gala attracts A-listers in their finest Dior black tie, the pre-party, held the night before, brings out a younger, hipper crowd ready to get down. This year’s festivities included a rousing performance by Haim, who electrified the historical institution, taking to the center of the iconic rotunda in coordinating red looks by the house. Taking in the multi-song set were Kate Mara, Rebecca Hall, Michelle Monaghan, Rebeca Dayan, and more. Here, take a look inside the dueling wild affairs.
