Kylie Jenner and Anastasia Karanikolaou Got Matching “Stormi” Tattoos at Travis Scott’s Birthday Party
Many relationships don’t pass the test of time implied by inking a significant other’s name on your skin: Just ask Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande, who would like you to look at her Myron. But when it comes to the bond between mother and child—between Kylie Jenner and Stormi Webster, for example—a tattoo seems like a safe bet. So it was that the youngest Kardashian daughter got her daughter’s name stamped onto her tricep in black block capitals, forever broadcasting her affection for the one-year-old to the world.
Jenner, a budding tattoo artist in her own right, revealed her new tattoo on her Instagram stories Thursday evening in a short video clip also featuring her friend Anastasia Karanikolaou, in which the two showed off their matching designs. (The bond between this mother and daughter is, of course, indelible, but what of the more fickle bond between best friends?) According to Page Six, they received the ink from tattoo artist JonBoy at Travis Scott’s birthday party at the end of April. At the time, JonBoy, who has also done work for Kendall Jenner, Selena Gomez, Sofia Richie, and Justin and Hailey Bieber (whom he met while a youth pastor at the Hillsong church both attend, according to a profile in The Cut), simply posted Stassie’s new tattoo to his feed, tagging her; it wasn’t until the Instagram video posted Thursday that Jenner unveiled her own coordinating ink.
The tattoo is the latest in Jenner’s collection of discreet designs; in addition to a butterfly (also created by JonBoy), she also has “la”—her hometown—inscribed on her ankle, refitted from a “t” tattoo after she and rapper Tyga broke up, the words “before ˈsa-nə-tē”—the phonetic spelling of “sanity”—on her hip, and a handful of others. She and Jordyn Woods both got the letter “m” scrawled on their bodies, again by JonBoy; it’s been speculated that this, too, was for Tyga, whose full name is Micheal Ray Stevenson.
Though Jenner and maybe-friend maybe-nemesis Woods might be on track to healing their friendship, we’d anticipate Woods won’t be getting her own Stormi tattoo in the too-near future.
