This season’s New York Fashion Week officially kicks off on Thursday, so, naturally, in true Tom Ford fashion, the designer already stole the show the night before. On Wednesday night, everyone from Cardi B and Paris Jackson to Tom Hanks and Henry Golding—and, naturally, the paparazzi—headed uptown to the Park Avenue Armory to take in Ford’s vision for spring 2019, which seemed to draw heavily on Ford’s beginnings in fashion in the ’90s. Instead of teeny Matrix-style sunglasses, then, there were giant oversized spectacles, and no shortage of shiny faux-crocodile, which was omnipresent from the start, from the opening look of a tailored pencil skirt suit to the corset accenting the gown that closed out the show, which snagged a spot around the waist of one Gigi Hadid. She was in good company; supers like Kaia Gerber and Joan Smalls also put in appearances, much to the approval of Adriana Lima, who unabashedly heckled Smalls from the front row when she strutted the runway in a corseted suit jacket, worn atop a floor-length swath of fringe. Take in all the glamour up-close with a look behind the scenes, here.
