Rihanna might be known for her sex appeal—frequently rocking a bra as a shirt (or a shirt with no bra)—but lately she's been into the biggest, poofiest, princess-iest ballgowns out there. Especially those by Giambattista Valli.
While promoting Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, the singer, actress, and fashion designer wore two dresses by Valli: the first was a pale pink creation with an off-the-shoulder neckline, puffy sleeves, and a high-low hemline with several yards of tulle train, while the second was a fiery red ballgown, also with off-the-shoulder neckline, empire waist, and a bit of a train. But, Queen Rih doesn't need an occasion to dress up. On Tuesday, Rihanna posted a picture of herself wearing another tulle dress--this one bright blue--paired with a pair of white sneakers, razor thin sunglasses, a gold watch, a chain necklace, and a sleek topknot. She posted her latest look in a under-construction hallway with the captions "casual" and "tuesdays" just so we're all clear that this is just how she lives her life.
Although she's best known for her fresh-off-the-runway, over-the-knee boots, Rihanna has been the queen of sneakers for a while now. After being appointed Puma's global ambassador in 2015, she won the Footwear News "Shoe of the Year" award, also known as the "Shoe Oscar," for the Fenty Puma Creeper in 2016. And, of course, pairing street kicks with a dress has been seen on everyone from Selena Gomez to Suki Waterhouse over the past year. But no one can pull off a ballgown and sneakers like Rihanna.
