The Model Offspring of Cindy Crawford, Helena Christensen, Kim Gordon, and More Took Over at New York Fashion Week

Two decades ago, supermodels Cindy Crawford and Helena Christensen were at the top of the modeling game—and while their careers are still thriving, their offspring have come of age and truly arrived this New York Fashion Week. After turning 16 just days before, Crawford’s daughter, Kaia Gerber, has booked the cream of the week’s crop, from Calvin Klein to Alexander Wang to Rihanna’s Fenty, while Christensen’s son and nephew also walked Calvin Klein, to her amazement. The fashion week moms and dads have been very supportive, too: Lionel Richie showed up to see his daughter, Sofia Richie, walk Jeremy Scott, while Lisa Rinna had a true Mean Girls moment when she yelled “That’s my daughter!” while standing up to film Amelia Gray Hamlin on the runway at Dennis Basso. From Bob Marley’s granddaughter to Paris Hilton‘s 29-year-old brother you never knew about, get to know the Fashion Week family’s freshest wave of upstarts, here.

“I haven’t walked yet, because 16 I think is the proper age,” Kaia Gerber, Cindy Crawford‘s lookalike daughter, said last year at age 15, at which point she’d already landed a Miu Miu campaign. Conveniently enough, though, she turned 16 just a few days before New York Fashion Week kicked off, and got straight to working, walking Calvin Klein—and promptly blacking out—then continuing on to open Alexander Wang and also walk in Rihanna’s Fenty show.

Also on the runway at Calvin Klein was Mingus Reedus, the 16-year-old son of the model and photographer Helena Christensen and the actor Norman Reedus. Christensen, who actually shot the collection before the show, later described the experience of watching her son, who by the way bears a small resemblance to fellow scion Lily-Rose Depp, as “bizarre.”

Oh, and things also got more “bizarre” for Christensen at Calvin Klein since not only her 16-year-old son was walking, but also her nephew, Oliver Sonne, who made a name for himself at the shows earlier this summer as one to watch.

Fresh off releasing her first-ever single, Selah Marley, a former Calvin Klein campaign star as well as the daughter of singer Lauryn Hill and former football player Rohan Marley, and of course the granddaughter of Bob Marley, has been making her rounds at the best shows of the week, from Fenty x Puma to Helmut Lang.

“The whole fam killin it!” the DJ Steve Aoki wrote in the caption of his Instagram of his 16-year-old niece, Natalie Nootenboom, who’s signed to Muse and became the first plus-size Asian model to walk for Anna Sui (and, unlike Gigi Hadid, managed to keep her shoes on) when she showed up on the runway this week.

Though Amelia Gray Hamlin already hit a major modeling milestone when she signed with IMG earlier this year, her mom, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna, promptly lost it when Hamlin, whose father is the actor Harry Hamlin, both opened and closed Dennis Basso’s show, going full-on Mean Girls mom mode by standing up and filming her daughter (while yelling, “That’s my daughter!”).

She may be only 15, but Mason Grammer, the daughter of the actor Kelsey Grammer and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Camille Grammer, has already put in at least six appearances this Fashion Week, including walking not once but twice at Malan Breton.

She’s not quite at the runway level yet, but Carys Zeta Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas‘s 14-year-old daughter, sat front row at Michael Kors next to her mom on New York Fashion Week’s final morning, taking care to get up close and personal with the designer himself, too.

At 29, Barron Hilton finally stole back from the spotlight from sisters Nicky and Paris Hilton when he made his fashion week debut at Hakan Akkaya. (He typically stays behind the scenes in the industry, having been a professional designer for the last 16 years.)

Coco Gordon Moore, the 23-year-old daughter of Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore, almost forgot to let her mom know that she’d be making her runway debut at Eckhaus Latta‘s spring 2018—a milestone that resulted in the surprise appearances of both Gordon, and Gordon Moore’s nipples, in the middle of Bushwick.

Sofia Richie has been walking runways since February of last year, but before this season, “not one family member” had seen her do it in person. Finally, this time around, her parents Lionel Richie and Diane Alexander made the trek to fashion week with their daughter just to see her at Jeremy Scott, where she showed up on the runway in a sheer hooded dress, looking quite unlike the “ham sandwich” her father had predicted.

Magic Johnson‘s daughter Elisa Johnson showed up early to fashion week, nabbing a spot at Tom Ford’s spring 2018 and sticking to the sidelines with her mom, Cookie, and brother, EJ Johnson, despite the fact that she just signed with Wilhelmina.
